The Internet Services Providers' Association (ISPA UK) is the UK’s Trade Association for providers for internet services. ISPA brings the UK internet industry together to provide essential support to benefit the UK economy and society. They are an important driving force for the industry, making representations on the industry’s behalf to Government bodies.
The 22nd Annual UK Internet Industry Awards were held on 19th November 2020. Glide is thrilled to have picked up the award for Best Infrastructure.
The annual awards are held in the highest esteem by the UK internet industry and judged by an independent panel of industry experts, including technical testing for ISP categories. These awards are one of the highlights in the industry calendar and this year was no different, with ISPA putting on a virtual event this year. As ISPA Chair Andrew Glover commented:
“The value of the UK ISP sector was for all to see at the 22nd ISPA Awards because the entire event took place virtually. Without ISPs, there could be no ceremony this year!
A big congratulations is in order for this year’s winners. 2020 has been a year like no other, but it has also been a year where ISP employees were seen as key workers, broadband has underpinned the entire economy to keep businesses operating and we were all able to keep in touch with loved ones through the pandemic.”
Commenting on the award win, Tim Pilcher, CEO of Glide said: “On behalf of everyone here at Glide, I would like to thank ISPA and the award judges for the Best Infrastructure award. Like most of us, this achievement rounds off an unusual year for the Glide team. But to virtually take home this award in recognition of our Network Infrastructure amongst such fantastic competition is an achievement that we’re extremely proud of.
Glide’s fully invested and scalable national network reaches 100,000 premises across the UK, holding the position as a UK leader in infrastructure solutions for difficult-to-serve markets. In 2019/20, Glide delivered uncontended, ultrafast, gigabit enabled, FTTP broadband to businesses through 650 fibre cabinets to over 450 business parks across the country. Its network provides 1500km of uncontended fibre, operating in 60 towns and cities, with planned deployment to 11 new fibre cities in 2020 with unlimited speeds already available to SMEs in Coventry.
The Glide National Network was born 5 years ago, starting in London and Manchester. Since then, it’s enjoyed huge growth as clients have opted for Glide's superfast, reliable broadband services, making Glide the leading provider of complete connectivity services for student accommodation, serving over 350,000 students across 850 sites in the UK and Europe. Glide can provide superfast, reliable broadband to major metropolitan areas. With access to exchanges in 90% of all student cities, Glide currently has around 850 student sites directly connected to our network.
Pilcher continues, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and partners for their continued dedication in what has been a truly turbulent year. It’s a real honour to be recognised at the prestigious ISPA awards and celebrate innovation alongside the industry’s brightest and best.”
